Week 7 Ex. F

Issa Some Flowers!

Photo Taken

Used AI to get the colours

Colour 1

Seems almost like a cool dark brown hue that gives the feeling of solitude and has the impression of being very strong and solid, serving as a great background colour that provides the base that holds the entire flower arrangment together.

Colour 2

This hue resembles green mixed with brown with low value such that it is on the darker side. The hue feels very muted but the tint of green gives it a look of vitality and growth such that it fits perfectly in the flower arrangment that mainly uses dried out flowers - a pure green would have seemed too energetic and out of place.

Colour 3

This hue is like a dusty pink with very low saturation. This hue is also muted. The lack of intensity in the colour gives the feeling of wanting to stand out for attention (by being pink) but at the same time, very shy. Given how it blends in with hues 1 and 2 yet slightly different, it seems to align with the mood that hue 3 is conveying.

Colour 4

Hue 4 is beige, the lightest colour in the swatch. This hue conveys the emotion of neutrality, neither wanting to stand out nor be in the background. It is such a peaceful colour. In light of this hue's meaning to me, I feel that it fits in with the flower arrangment in that it attracts a certain amount of attention but does not steal the limelight away from the main subject.

Colour 5

Hue 5 is an intense saturated purple. This purplely hue gives the feeling of royalty which would mean isolated or detached. However, the tint of pink makes it more approachable while still maintaining that sophisticated flair. This hue is the main subject, or pop if you will it, of  the flower arrangment. It appears a lot less than the other hues but this only adds to the dignified feeling the colour gives.

Overall, I think the colours work well together to show the beauty of dried flowers.

Week 8 Ex. G

Spiraling This was done in AI. I wanted to do a pattern of increased complexity with a traperzium of sorts. I duplicated it and rotated it to the right at an angle until the rotation would cause one of the sides to stick out of the box (box 1 to 3). I then grouped it and then duplicated the entire pattern and made is smaller than the original to overlap it (box 4 to 5). In the last box (box 6), I made it more complex by enlarging the grouped trapeziums such that it now slightly sticks out of the box, giving an illusion that the lines still continue infinitely outside of the box.

Assignment 2 - Story Time!

Contract Killer When I was reading the brief, I wanted to do a crazy comedic scene. However, I did a second (final) iteration of the assignment as the storyline I submitted for the critique was too chaotic. The final iteration can be found after the Critique Session. First Iteration - Storyboard I decided to do the storyboarding on paper because I have better freedom of expression with a physical pen than a digital one. Below are scalations of the drawn storyboards. Read from left to right, row by row. Pikachu have white ears while Pichu have black ears. 1 - Ditto Baby (Used) Storyboard 1 - Ditto Baby Two Pikachus are just chilling and one of them has a baby in its PokeBall pouch (kind of like a kangaroo). The Pichu comes to join the chill party and wants to see the baby. However, the baby is a Ditto Pichu resulting in a bunch of surprise Pikachu faces. It ends with the Ditto fleeing the scene. Background Context: A Ditto is a pokemon with the iconic :) face that can shapeshift into an...

Assignment 1 - Abstraction

Abstraction of Le Rice Cooker  Stage 1 I was pacing around the house deciding on what would be a good object to abstract from, not too manydetails nor already too simplified. I entered the kitchen and found our cute little rice cooker... Perfect! My aim is to abstract the rice cooker with the intention of showing that it is a small portable pink rice cooker. For Stage 1, I decided that it would be a good idea to trace out the rice cooker and capture all the details like the words, the plug and even the rice scoop. This is the most realistic illustration of the rice cooker. To do this, I duplicated the photo (press and hold ALT and drag it across) and decreased its opacity so that I can use the Pen Tool to trace over it. I did a rough outline and then went into the details. Given that there were a lot of curved points, I followed Kai's advice on not dotting to create the curve but instead anchor it at another point and continue to press down on the left mouse button to create the cu...
